    mike, rock records placed the initial wave of advertisements on 933. if you listen on 933 often you will hear short clips promoting the album follow by the tickets. there are no ads on tv, papers yet, only news articles on papers on the review of the albums. :)

    yes, there is a high chance to get the order before the concert, so you can wear them, bring them, jump and sing with them during the concert…

    eh doh… the helmet is DIY one.. not the real bike helmet. I’ve seen the real ones being sold at Far East Plaza but I dunno how much (dun think is cheap)

    Tonight’s e-awards concert Cheer came out quite late~ ard 9pm. But the waiting was worth it. She came out with her usual Gibson gig + a Cello player…wow…so match her! You will automatically keep silence to watch her sing. Cheer sang 2 songs: Go to England Next Week & Fly for you. Plus! A Bonus song~~~she sang unplugged Fish. Though only a short verse, but it’s heart melting enough! Fans out there! Memorise this song well for tomorrow! Cheer go go go~ Luv U

    If your friends going HK, ask them get it for you. I saw they still selling her 1st Album at Temple Street just last month.. I bought another copy of Groupies @ $88HKD, her 1st album even cheaper IIRC …

    Actually it’s kind of ironic in the sense that in singapore older cds does not mean that the price is more expensive, whereas at other places it seems to be the case.

    Nonetheless, there’s no harm in asking friends from overseas to see if there’s the older cds on sale.

    There’s a shop in shaw that helps u find cd. can go there and try. price shld be around 20+

    I got Immortal for 20 or 21 there. the cheapest i seen in stores around.

    to Jwen: That’s the only CD I saw that is the cheapest from that shop. I can assure you for normal CDs, that’s definitely NOT the cheapest. As for older CDs, I think sourcing from other countries may prove to be a better option.

    actually the cheapest selling cd in store is in chinatown. i think some people will know which one i am taking about. i use to buy cd for around 15 bucks…less than 20 most of teh time. but as for older stock, i don’t think they have it.

    by the way, do catch 933 when you free, there are summaries on the 8th march session. Also, i believe almost everyone missed out the phone interview on Sunday 2.20pm on 933 with Cheer… (only me and jing yee caught it by chance) but will try to ask 933 if can get a recording…shrugs.

    Security is very tight for indoors, they will check your bags for professional videography or photography equipment. Those with DSLR will be asked to leave their gear at the security counter.

    Only small digital cameras are allowed . Even those semi-pro cameras (non-dslr cam) with long zoom lens are prohibited.
    One lady was using a cam with those 10x ~ 18x zoom camera to shoot at Lee’s Concert last year. The security quickly step up to her and stop her.

    Even video taking using HP cameras were stopped… Hiaz..
    I guess security at Cheer concert will be even tighter, from the fact that they implement the 3 不 at her autograph session.

    The organizers alway give out free tickets to sponsors for all concerts, not just for Cheer concert, even for Andy Lau & Sammi Cheung.

    I guess it’s pretty alrite to give discount for students esp during bad times like this. Somemore, majority of cheer fans are still students, it’s just a last minute strategy to boost poor ticket sales.

    I still want to blame the organizers for Implementing the 3 不 rule at the autograph session. It really dampen the hype surrounding the concert.

    I just pray that the organizer will not be overly zealous in maintaining order and fan’s behaviour in the stadium which could kill the 气纷.

    to all, videography is nt allowed during the concert in the first place..pls understand..it is due to copyright issues. and to assure u, we will setup 4 corners for everyone to take photos of Cheer. This news has been released to the public via all newspaper..therefore, pls do follow the rulings, take photos only during the 4 points ya :) ..of cos those Professional cameras of cos is not allowed.. only normal digital cameras is allowed to bring in..

    To implement the 3 不 during the autograph session is becos to ensure best performance for Cheer, cos with all those flashes and all, u will disturb her, i believe u guys will also want her to have a perfect performance right?

    pls try to understand and pls look forward to coming concert.. :)

    Cheer has mentioned before that she dislike the camera flashes..

    simply put, if you really support Cheer, do the best for her, not YOU..

    don’t carry a “other-people-are-doing-it-too” mentality..

    so, if you must, take your photos w/o the flash; especially if you are the type who photographs throughout the concert.. are you really there for the concert?

    Yes, I love her music from day 1. I was there for the concert and I am not stupid to pay $148 just to take pictures, FYI.
    If I want pictures, i would just google “Cheer Chen”

    Anyway I have put the 2007 concert pics back in my album and hopefully it would help convince the undecided fans

    And please, there isn’t any hidden agenda for fans who takes pics of their idol in concert.

    Seriously, there’s nothing wrong to take photos but you can always off the flash fellow friends :) Pictures with flash on doesnt looks good anyway. If you find it too dim, can always use photoshop and picasa photo editor~ they are very user friendly!! XD Cheers everybody~

    @tatdp: cameras is ok, not the big DSLR with huge lens, video cams is a no-no. The usual mobile phone cameras, small digital cameras is ok. But try not to take too much photo though! Not recommended. :)

    It’s is advised NOT to bring professionals DSLRs (as mentioned by ailian – no. 191 in guestbook) you might be asked to leave it with the guards. Dun risk it. Just bring a small one will do (some settings can be done to take good shots too!)

    Besides making new friends that are passionate about Cheer’s music, I finally got to shook hand and welcome her in Singapore ! The feeling was a.w.e.s.o.m.e !!! Just hope my wife won’t get jealous ^_^

    旅行的意義 should be counted as part of the programme leh..

    There was 2 instants she seemed to missed the tempo: 距離 & 小步舞曲…..
    There was some audio feedback from the guitar during 距離… and it may have distracted her.

    in 小步舞曲 she was slightly off the beat for quite a short while …. 奇哥 was glancing at 小虎… she managed to recover quickly.
    But both was never able to spoil such a fabulous performance and concert ~

    Really memorable concert, it’s quite different from the one at Expo. This time round I’m able to get closer cos the scissors lift was just a few rows in front of me.

    I think the “Guitar Heroes” section really showcases her l33t skillz :) I know she’s a mean guitar player, didn’t know she was THAT good, lol

    I think the DJ Lin Peifen was there is it?
    Saw someone who looked like her from the large screen.

    Yeah, I didn’t like the concert review too. The person obviously doesn’t appreciate cheer chen’s music. I personally think that the concert at the indoor stadium was the best so far in sg ~ Maybe we can all write in to Straits times?

    He only wrote the review till the 3rd encore lor. And it is only natural that any singer would feel tired after singing so many songs. The review also missed so many of the highlights of the show.

    It was not exactly a bad review on the concert .. it’s just that he grossed over some of the highs in the concert and focused on the minor negative stuff, i.e fans not spontaneous enough in the beginning, fans missing the tempo during the sing-along portion and 绮贞’s confusing blend of rock and slow sentimental pieces.
    Anyway, ST is known for posting rave reviews for arty farty plays.

    Regarding the ST review, it is fine if the reviewer is not a Cheer fan and I respect that he may have his own musical taste and inclination.

    He mentioned about an ‘embarrassing incident’. Who else was embarrassed, besides him, I wondered? He made comments like ‘Most likely, like me, many wondered…’. He was unfairly projecting his own thoughts on other fans, not realising that he could be the only one wondering. ‘For first 8 songs….Gibson Hummingbird did not make its appearance’-I like to ask Mr. Reporter, the awesome Hummingbird should ideally make its appearance on which song in his opinion? He said that the fans remained reserved when the Hummingbird finally showed up. Was he expecting the fans to go into rapture the moment Cheer flashed out the Hummingbird?

    It is fine for the reviewer to be subjective in his review, but the concert should not be critiqued based on his expectation of the fans’ response.

    The fans need not justify what they have not done, or done but not at the reporter’s expected timing. Really disppointed that such review is coming from our major local english newspaper.

    Have a look at the Oasis concert review yesterday (Tuesday) for an example of a well-written and fair review. You may argue that that reviewer is an Oasis fan, but it does not come across as bias (in favour of the band). Just factual reporting of the magic of the concert and every band members, and not what the band did not do, or what the fans did not do.

    Anyway, i wanted to comment on that ST report.
    First and foremost, we didn’t miss the cue.
    i was sitting at T38, the $88 category and i can hear the audience responding to her cue!

    And Cheer is not a wannabe.. She is just her, the Qizhen we know that can be the girl-next-door strumming her guitar and singing to soothing tunes or the rockbabe who plays good guitar! Nevermind that her vocals is not that of a rocker.. If she was, i probably wouldn’t have like her as a singer. It’s precisely because she don’t sing like a angsty rocker yet she can emote her songs very well in her own unique way that i like her.

    I have no idea why he decides to give a bad review but I think as a reviewer, he has to do some homework before he disgraces himself on ST. I’m sure those who were there can tell that it was a good concert and the audience were involved unlike what he said. (i shall repeat that i was sitting on T38 and i can see almost what’s going on all around the stadium.)

    Lastly, i’m glad my friends (two of them are not exactly cheer fans) enjoyed the concert a lot. All of us agreed that it was a fantastic experience and i’m very sure we will all go for the next concert when Cheer visits Singapore again :)

    If I’m not wrong, the Wretch site report actually appears on My Paper. The Wretch site report is the original uncensored thoughts of the reviewer Old Cucumber. Although it’s not totally positive, that is what I considered as a subjective but factual and unbiased reporting, which can be constructive.

    Actually I do not exactly care what the review wrote. As long as I’m there to support her and she touched me with her singing and poetry, that’s enough for me.

    There’re certainly some imperfections, but I don’t think we’d mind at all?

    erm, im from m’sia so couldn’t go to cheer’s conert T_T. but from the clips shared here n after reading andy chen’s review,i gotta saw he either doesn’t know anything about cheer’s style or he doesn’t know wut a concert is like. some fans just prefer to enjoy the music so they make less noise during concerts. that doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy it. its kinda stupid to generalize things so simply. and from the video i watched here, i can see quite a loud cheers from her fans so the part of lack of cheers is bullshit.

    and the rocker chick part. cheer has always been some sort of a rocker. has he actually watched cheer’s performance with mayday during mayday’s concerts? mayb someone should send him the clip. obviously he knows nuts about cheer.im sorry that he is not as talented as cheer who is able to sing both rock and pop-genre songs.

    furthermore, isnt it stupid to expect cheer to sing in a “coffee shop” atmosphere in such a big concert with tens of thousand of fans. if he wants some “up-close” gig, please go to some un-plugged concert or autograph session.

    I think the Wo Bao review was good.
    It gave a good insight as to what the concert was trying to bring out. And do read the uncensored version on Fresh Music. The encore part, i believe a lot of hardcore Cheer fans will totally agree. As for ST, they are well-known for writing shallow reviews for Chinese concerts, this is not the first time. which is probably their cuppa tea. I shall swear myself off off ST reviews on Chinese stuff in future since all these reporters probably don’t even know much about what they are covering on…

    Hi guys, regarding the hidden song 孤獨. I went to check her 1st album.
    I got 2 copies of her 1st album, both does NOT have the hidden track 孤獨 after 漫漫长夜 ended.
    Instead, the online streaming version has it….
    Is it because there are different versions released in Singapore by in 1998 ?

    With regards to the musictoxin review, i think it’s a case of Cheer outgrowing the reviewer or vice versa. No artiste can remain the same person that the reviewer loved 10 years ago. I think Cheer has improved a lot in terms of delivery of live performance, compared to what I saw on video of her concerts last time where she was more “wooden”. I preferred the concert at expo but i think it’s because of the venue and the order of song list (a little haphazardly arranged) rather than Cheer losing her touch.

    Anyway, for the rest who are interested. FYI, it quite hard to purchase thru the online system… U need to register to be a member 1st. I register and key in a fake taiwan addr but encountered problems. Better to fax over the purchase order or email. Tickets will be mailed to Singapore

    Fill it up and fax the purchase order over and followed up with a call, if you dun have a fax. Fill up the form and email them.
    I emailed them and called them up to reconfirm. They mentioned the tickets will be mailed to me in 10 working days. Btw, I think some of the SG Cheeregoers attended her concert in taiwan earlier this year. How u guys bought the tix ? Thru the online system ?

    Hi Guang Lin, you can go for Free&Easy package or book both the air ticket and hotel accomodation yourself.
    The latter would be cheaper.
    A very rough estimated breakdown on the costs for 3D2N and 3 stars hotel.
    Air tickets (CHINA AIRLINES): $550 excl Tax
    Hotel Accomodation: $300 (3 Nights stay)
    3 stars hotel
